An Open Letter to Don Geronimo

Don G.,

A feud can be fun. Entertaining for all. You talked some shit, I talked some shit back (and really Don, could a guy like you respect someone who didn't throw it back when gone after?)

It should have stayed at the level. Sling some insults, etc. Several fans that we have in common were telling me about past people you feuded with who are now friends and I thought, that's cool, maybe that could happen.

But you, even though you're in the business and habit of messing with people couldn't handle it coming back at you and elevated it to the point of attacking my livelihood. You encouraged your listeners to harass me at my shows and then you contacted Joan Rivers. You may never admit it publicly but you know, as does anyone who bothers to read Joan's response on Twitter, that you did NOT get me pulled from that show. It was a misunderstanding as the booker didn't know she had her own opener. But your intent WAS to cost me that show. I've worked very hard in an extremely competitive business to get to where bookers are putting me on such gigs. For you, because of a little shit talking to even try to undermine that makes you a sad, pathetic individual. It was taking this too far and it's completely inappropriate. Yes, I did encourage letters to your station, but only in response to the actions described above and only to express the same sentiments.

So, I'm done with our feud. My revenge will just be my continued success and happiness chasing this dream and working with amazing, creative people who are also chasing theirs as we keep things positive.

Did you win Don? Sure. You got to me. Congratulations. From a position of power you went after someone much lower on the totem pole then yourself and you succeeded in making him feel like he never should've messed with something so filthy and disgusting lest he get the stink on himself as well. You got me to wallow for a moment in the muddy place where you exist. You went after the means that I use to try and make the best life I can for me and my family. And yes, you got me to step away first. Congratulations. You're a vicious, nasty, mean-spirited man and I feel a huge relief at being done with you and a slowly fading regret at ever interacting with you in the first place.

Sincerely,
Keith Lowell Jensen

PS: I've got more big gigs coming. I hope your listeners do come and buy tickets. It would be nice to interact with them without you there to hang up on me before I can say my piece.

Thanks David, for making me feel so much stronger about my decision to be done with you intellectual giants. How could I keep up with "Cry Baby" and "Challs on bin"?
I'm so outclassed.

You're very welcome. You love all this attention otherwise you wouldn't be Blogging about it like a scorned lover. I think it's great that you have made a complete 180 on your stance about this feud with Don because of one thing and one thing only, you were outmatched and had no chance in winning. EVER. You are wise beyond your years.

These people are relentless bullies! I'm glad you're done with it - who wants to live in this type of negativity. Keith, I'm sure the comedy community has your back.

Chantel,
The comedy community does indeed which has been one of the nicest things to come out of this. Thanks.

David,
I get that you're a diehard fan of Dons. Like you, we are die hard fans of Keith. The things he has done for the comedy community have been above and beyond what any other comic has done. When he was attacked by Don, it was like attacking the nicest person you have ever met. All we wanted was for Keith to have a voice on the air to defend himself. Wouldn't that have made good radio? Don is a bully and that's fine, he caters to to a specific audience, as Keith does. I hope you come to a show one time and make up your own mind.

ASSTheistComedian?
Comedy gold. But attacking my hat, now that's going too far.

Keith, just ball breaking, don't cry. Don't worry about what weight i fight at, if you ever happen to me me you will know right away. I am not that fucking hard to miss.

Kook, are you really THAT angry and hateful that someone talked back to Don G? I'm fascinated by this. I am a huge fan of Doug Stanhope but if someone talks shit on him I don't get excited for a minute.

Keith, been reading from afar of this whole debacle. I am sorry that you had to endure this abuse from an obviously insecure man and his minion trolls. I do hope that this "free" publicity helps your future gigs and endeavors. I think that you have shown who truly is the better man by walking away. There's no point in wasting anymore time and energy in such negativity.

S, Garcia,
Aren’t true fans great? If Keith has done so much for the comedy community, how come I have never heard of him until him being mentioned on Don’s show? ‘Above and beyond what any other comic has done’ that’s a tall order to fill. Might be a bit lofty. It kind of reminds me of when you order too much at a restaurant and have the ‘’my eyes are bigger than my stomach’’ moment. I can’t attest to the niceness of Keith but I guess I will have to take you at your word. As far as good radio is concerned I leave that up to the professionals such as Don Geronimo. Don knows what is funny and has made that work for him for the past twenty years and will continue to do so. I will leave the “comedic” talents of one Keith Lowell all to you and his other fan.

Damn kook I asked you your weight class not Keith. I did not mean it as an attack, it was more because I like cage fighting and have been a fan since UFC 1. It seemed there was a break in the bulshit and everyone was playing nice. Wow you really are riled up this morning. Call the addiction hotline they are there to help.

Keith is nice David and a great guy. He has provided a venue for Sacramento's local comics for quite some time and nurtured lots of young comedians to help them get their start. That is why people praise him for giving back to his community. He has done many great things around Sacramento to try and help people. That is why people like him.

You are pretentious, naive, soft as taffy in the sun, you are the one, we have come to hate you violently, little coward, run, run run... it's poetic and it pukes on your face like the drapes of a thousand nuns.

Keith has also said all along that he is a small working class comic at the moment chasing his dreams many times.

To be fair I never heard of Don G until this feud.

Boom! Winning, blow it up, big time, hot line, calling douche bag comedians to the stage.

hey amateur, got jokes?

It's so great that I don't have to bother describing what passes for intelligent discourse with his fan base. Give them the rope and they hang themselves quite nicely.

Bullies are the second most insecure species on the planet; the most insecure are the boot-licks that trail behind them like newborn puppies, yapping encouragement and inhaling deeply whenever the lead dog takes a crap.

Apparently, Don G's ability to use his show as a bully-pulpit to belittle (while avoiding direct contact with) a successful amateur comic is just the tastiest nugget of poop some of these folks have ever sampled. That's a sad commentary on the state of their own attempts at life.

Dear genius, "Removed by author" means the person who wrote it removed.
If I removed it would read "Removed by administrator".

Care to provide us with any more samples of your brilliance?

So the pussy is the guy that confronted the person who berated them? I'm a little confused by that logic or lack of it I always found the pussy to be the person that hid behind the microphone.

These fan boys are hilarious. I can't think of anyone I'm enough of a fan of to follow like this. Reminds me of the teenage girls screaming and passing out at Beatles concerts. I'm glad the Beatles didn't keep going 'til they were reduced to local AM radio.

So, let's say I don't know who anyone is in this feud and I'm trying to figure out who the bad guy is. You can replace 'bad guy' with 'douche bag' or 'cry baby', whatever term worked for you on the playground.

So, a semi-professional comedian who has been doing better and better as the years go by was wronged by a professional radio personality whose career has been going worse and worse over the years. Even though Don is reaching a much smaller audience than before, he still has a bigger clout in the industry than Keith does. He knows loads of important people and has a fan base that may or may not be larger and/or more devoted than Keith's fan base.

Don is in the position now where he has to climb back up the ladder and save himself from obscurity. Don's actions in this feud seem to imply that Keith is a rung in the ladder of fame. Think about every band or comedian you like. You found out about them because other people in the industry thought they were good and worked with them. A relatively unknown band can open for a popular band and reach a much larger audience.

Of course, you don't always have to rely on merit or talent to climb that ladder. You can use conflict in the media to pull it off. It seems to me that Don is threatened by Keith; he knows how successful he's been and how much more successful he is becoming.

So, things are backfiring a bit. Don and his fans are now giving Keith more press and more fans.

Don's encouragement of heckling at Keith's shows is more than just a little cowardly. Don is in the position where he doesn't have to deal with anyone interrupting him while he reaches his audience. He has to give the go ahead for someone calling on the phone to speak. That is, of course, after they've gone through the screening process. Oh, and if the caller bugs him, or can best him intellectually, or is funnier than he is; he can always hang up.

For Keith, he's performing live in front of drunk people. Sure, security can always remove the heckler but he can still get a few words in before that happens. That's something that sets stand up apart from radio. Dealing with hecklers is part of performing live and if someone handles it well, it makes them a better, sharper entertainer. In fact, each time I've heard someone heckle Keith, he has tackled it deftly and made the person wish they'd kept their mouth shut.

So, go ahead Don fans. Continue with your barely literate comments and insults. Don knows that he's on his way down and that Keith is on his way up. I wonder if he knows that by continuing the feud he's only helping Keith?

OK... I've read your big steaming blorg. Where's the funny?

Dolt,
This is my blog. If you'd like to see my comedy there are video clips to the right. I write about all kinds of things and do not limit it to humor. If you're just here to talk shit, welcome. You have plenty of company.

The more you guys attack a stranger because he offended the object of your adoration the more you look like little ass kissing fan boys.

I'm amazed you can entertain yourself with such idiocy for so long and it actually makes me feel relieved that you don't enjoy my comedy.
Fun for you but tired for me. So goodbye now.
PS: If Don is so popular why so many posts from so few people here? Don't bother answering, you're done here. Crawl back in your hole paid commenter.
Oh, and calling you surf was a test. I was pretty sure you were the same person. Thanks for confirming it.

KLJ said...

Considering how erratic he's been behaving I wonder how many of the fan boys are actually Don himself?

Oh well, unlike the hang up king I let them have their best shot until they degenerated into literally posting gibberish, or one letter per post. They (he) failed to impress.

KLJ said...

Fascinating psychology here. The little doggies kept barking long after anyone could hear them. I was amazed to keep seeing their posts show up. Funny little doggies had to be put down after they peed on the rug.

KLJ said...

Hey haters, I got into the Bridgetown comedy festival. They must not know comedy as well as you do.

So many close-minded people. If you don't find someone funny, just tell him your opinion politely rather than being so rude about it. You don't really believe that everyone laughs at the same jokes do you? As for the feud, I always admire the underdog, which I believe to be Keith here. He personally writes letters to Don's advertisers while Don commands his lackeys to attack Keith. Sounds like every villainous dictator I've heard of.

Don hanging up on you seems like what Bill O'Reilly would do to guests that he could not debate with due to his own inferior intellect.
